
Staci Appel was elected to
the Iowa Senate in 2006. She represents district 37, which includes Warren
and Madison counties and southwest Dallas County.
Senator Appel is
vice-chair of the Education Committee and the Administration & Regulation
Budget Subcommittee. She also serves on the Agriculture, State Government,
and Ways & Means committees.
In addition to her
committee assignments, Senator Appel is a member of the State Child Care
Advisory Council, the Iowa Empowerment Board, the Commission on the Status
of Women, and the Public Retirement Systems Committee.
Staci Appel is a native
Iowan, who is active in a variety of school, church and community
activities. She has served as president of the Irving Elementary
Parent-Teacher Organization in Indianola, a member of the United Way Women’s
Leadership Connection, a member of the Warren County Child Abuse Prevention
Council Advisory Board, and a Sunday School teacher at First United
Methodist Church in Indianola.
Senator Appel is from
rural Ackworth. She is a full-time mother, community volunteer and former
financial consultant. She and her husband, Brent Appel, have five children:
Theodore, Jacob, Isaac, Olivia, and Michael.
Prior
to taking time off from work to concentrate on raising her children and
working with various community and charitable organizations, Appel was a
financial consultant with Merrill Lynch and USB Paine Webber. |
